Grasmere is a wedding floral specialist. We make certain that the flowers and foliages employed are delivered no more than three days before the wedding from the markets to us without long cooler storage. We do not warehouse fresh floral or reuse 'leftovers' from other weddings. All floral is ordered, delivered and crafted into arrangements only for the one wedding event of the week.
The English Nosegay Bridal Bouquet
This is a vibrant ribbon-tied bouquet gathered with lush flowers of the season.. The Grasmere nosegay bridal bouquet is a well-weighted juxtaposition of texture and color to create a vibrant blend. The individual stems are placed one by one, and the growing arrangement is slowly spun by an assistant so that the designer can gauge the harmony of the bouquet. A Grasmere bouquet is a perfect statement for the self-assured bride who will be complimented by the sophistication of this design. The bridal bouquet is undeniably a most personal statement, second only to the bridal gown. Hence a harmonious kinship between these two elements bears very evocative results. The floral designer is to pay close attention to the personality and preferences of the bride, her stylistic sensibilities and budgetary priorities. The bridesmaids bouquets can off-set or complement the bridal bouquet in size or subtle color nuances. Their character though is to be taken from the bride's bouquet creating a pivotal floral harmony around the bride.
Boutonnieres
In terms of color shading and style, the boutonniere of the groom is to be derived from the bride's bouquet as the original custom was for the bride to pluck before the ceremony a flower from her bouquet and place it on her betrothed's lapel. Traditionally, it is a rose boutonniere finished with foliage, well proportioned to lend a distinct accent to the groom's appearance, bringing him visually into the bridal party. A groom's boutonniere is never to be oversized to resemble a corsage. More adventurous grooms might try an all-foliage boutonniere or thistle, berries or freesias.
Flower Girls and Ring Bearers
Pomanders of sweetly fragrant flowers were once carried to perfume the air. In keeping with this tradition, children carrying beribboned pomanders of sweetheart roses intertwined with ivy evoke memories of gentler days. A playful swag of interlaced flowers and foliage grasped by ribbons at either end by small hands of a flower girl and ring bearer will be a poignant reminder of childhood for assembled guests. The classical charm of a floral headdress bestowed upon the small heads imbues the Bridal Party with an air of innocent whim.
Mothers, Family Members, and Special Friends
A hand-held clustering of flowers recalling the bridal bouquet, gathered into a simple small nosegay beautifully completed with sumptuous ribbons, or a lovingly fashioned corsage reflecting the nosegay bouquets is a gracious acknowledgment of Mothers and Special Friends.
Centerpieces
The overall desired atmosphere should be taken into full account when deciding on the design of the centerpieces. Whether splendor and elegance or wonderful simplicity, the character of the centerpieces must be eloquent and fitting to the personalities of bride and groom. Taller centerpieces are to be designed tall and 'transparent' enough so that the guests can see the other table guests and can easily strike up conversations and not become isolated behind an impeding mound of flowers. The centerpieces should visually encompass the table by either trailing elements (ivies i.e.), complementing flower petals or sprigs. Be sure also that the color of the table linens is in keeping with the overall floral design. {Grasmere makes silver compotes, candelabra, cast iron urns, terra cotta containers and glass vases available to be rented.}
Entrance Way Floral
It recommends itself to consider fewer but more grand floral statements as they will have a stronger visual impact than a number of smaller portions of floral interspersed. One or two sumptuous arrangements strategically placed it should be to greet the guests upon arrival. A warm welcome for friends and family can be delightfully achieved by sumptuous fresh floral wreaths on the church or reception doors. One of the trademarks of Grasmere wedding style is balancing the grandness of the event, which has gathered friends and family together, with the warmth and hospitality reserved for those of our close acquaintance. This is best and most beautifully accomplished by the plain symbolism of the wreath.
Candlelight
Candlelight throughout the ceremony and diversely placed throughout the reception location is so important. The undulating glow of the candles brings out the richness of the colors and lends depth and mystery to the rooms otherwise stifled by the glare of candescent bulbs. Candelabra and ribboned glass votives are simple but effective ways to bring a florid shimmer of candles to your wedding
